About This Course

Welcome to "Matter Matters: The Science of Solids, Liquids, and Gases," an engaging course crafted for young learners in kindergarten through second grade. This course introduces children to the fascinating world of matter with a focus on making science fun and accessible.

In this course, students will explore the three primary states of matter: solids, liquids, and gases. We start with solids, where children will learn about their unique properties, including how they hold their shape and have a fixed volume. Students will see how solids are all around them.

Next, we move to liquids, discovering how they flow and adapt to the shape of their containers. Real-life examples such as water, juice, and milk will help illustrate how liquids can change shape but maintain a consistent volume.

The course then explores gases, a state of matter that’s all around us but often invisible. Students will learn about how gases fill up balloons, aid in breathing, and make bubbles.

In addition to these primary states, the course features a special section on unique states of matter, including plasma. Students will discover plasma, an exciting state of matter found in phenomena like lightning and neon signs. They will additionally learn about the super cool (pun intended) states of superfluids and supersolids.

We’ll also cover how matter changes states with temperature changes, such as when ice melts into water or water turns into steam. Through engaging explanations, children will see how these transformations occur and understand the concept of state changes.

"Matter Matters: The Science of Solids, Liquids, and Gases" combines real-life examples, and engaging text to provide young students with a solid understanding of matter and its states. This course is designed to make science both fun and educational, sparking curiosity and wonder about the world around us.
